Pick an AFK Money Maker You Can Actually Run
AFK in OSRS is a sliding scale, not a promise that you can walk away from the game. Start with the time between clicks, then check the levels, cash and risk needed for the method. The finder ranks the matches by estimated GP/hr using current GE prices.

Start With AFK Time, Not Just GP/hr
Every method on this page has a reviewed hands-off stretch of at least one minute somewhere in its normal loop. Choose your world access, enter the GP you can spend, and load Hiscores if you want skill requirements checked.
- Pick your worlds.Use Members for the full pool, or F2P for free-world methods only.
- Check your setup.Leave out methods that need more levels, cash or Wilderness risk than you allow.
- Compare the rhythm.Read the AFK stretch on each card before comparing the live GP/hr.
The AFK stretch is the average longest hands-off part of the loop. Banking, dropping, moving to another spot and restarting an action still need input.

Compare Time Between Interactions
Two methods can both be called AFK and feel completely different in game. Use these bands as a quick way to choose the amount of attention you can spare.
About 1–2 minutes
Cooking inventories, sacred eels, amethyst, yew logs and steel dart tips give short, repeatable gaps.
About 2–5 minutes
Cannonballs, anglerfish, camphor, karambwan and redwoods give longer stretches with the right setup.
Five minutes or more
Dark crabs and infected roots can run much longer, but they need extra setup and are not equally safe.
Risk changes the answer
A long timer is not automatically better. Dark crabs put you in the Wilderness, where PKers can end the trip.
Your actual interval can be shorter if a fishing spot moves, an inventory fills early, or another part of the loop needs attention. Treat the number on the result card as a planning estimate, not a logout timer.

Why AFK GP/hr Changes
AFK does not mean fixed profit. GE margins move, gathering spots behave differently from trip to trip, and banking or missed clicks reduce the rate you actually get.
Net GP per action×Reviewed action rate=Estimated GP/hr
Inputs use the latest instant-buy price and outputs use the latest instant-sell price, with GE tax deducted where it applies. Buy limits, slow fills, travel, competition, mistakes and deaths are outside the estimate. Test a small batch before tying up your cash stack.
